Manizales ranked third in the Modern Cities Index

61 points, out of 100, is the rating that Manizales obtained in the Modern Cities Index (ICM), corresponding to the period 2014-2018, in the category of capital cities. It increased seven percentage points compared to the last measurement.

With this score, it ranked third, behind Bogotá (68) and Medellín (62); and above Tunja (61), Barranquilla (60) and Bucaramanga (60).

Regarding the departmental ranking, Caldas reached seventh place with 51 points, below Atlántico (55), Risaralda, Santander, Antioquia and Quindío (all with 52).

Juan Felipe Jaramillo, secretary of ICT and Competitiveness, pointed out that this measurement is key to continue strengthening associative figures, policies beyond limits and development with sustainability criteria.

It is a measurement of the integral development of cities in the social, economic, technological, environmental, institutional and security fields. The analysis is made based on six dimensions, 15 domains and 36 indicators.
