This Wednesday the sprinters will enjoy a new opportunity to score a victory in the 107th edition of the Tour de France. It will be one day after the first high altitude and on the eve of the second.
The 183 kilometers between Gap and Privas, which run from east to west, offer little difficulty and little terrain for adventure. With the exception of a few kilometers that run parallel to the Rhone, where the wind can blow from the side and favor the appearance of fans.
In the final section the wind will be frontal and the last kilometers in false upward slope, which can also serve for an adventurer to surprise the teams of sprinters.
The stage comes one day after the Tour de France have completed their first high altitude goal, at Orcires-Merlette, in the southern Alps, and a day before they finish at Mont-Aigoual, also top-class, in the Massif Central.
The French Julian Alaphilippe (Deceuninck-Quick Step) defend the yellow jersey with 4 and 7 seconds over his most direct rivals, the British Adam Yates (Mitchelton-Scott) and the Slovenian Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma). The also Slovenian Tadej Pogacar (UAE Emirates) is 11 seconds away, the French Guillaume Martin (Cofidis) to 13 and the Colombian Egan Bernal (Ineos) to 17.
The squad will leave Gap on time at 1:10 p.m. (CEST) and its arrival in Privas is estimated at around 5:30 p.m.
