The word ‘massacre’ is a trend on social networks because of a trill by President Iván Duque in which he laments the cruel attack in Norte de Santander in which four soldiers lost their lives.
“Execrable massacre of three soldiers and a noncommissioned officer in Nte. Santander, who gave their lives facing drug trafficking, will NOT (sic) go unpunished”, Wrote the President on his Twitter.

“Commander of the Army will carry out operations against responsible GAOr criminals. All solidarity with the families of our heroes ”, argued the President.

“Yes sir! The death of soldiers in Catatumbo is also a massacre. Like Llano Verde and Samaniego. Death between brothers. It is necessary to move forward on the path of complete, stable and lasting peace, ”wrote the former head of the negotiating team that reached the peace agreement with the FARC, Humberto de la Calle.
Duke He stated on Saturday August 22 that the recent massacres in different parts of Colombia, which at that time had left more than 30 people dead, are not “massacres” but “collective homicides.”
(In context: Government defends use of term collective homicides; no of massacres)

“Many people have said: ‘the massacres returned, the massacres returned’, let’s first talk about the precise name: ‘collective homicides’, and sadly it must be accepted as a country, it is not that they returned, it is that these events have not sadly gone away” he said in Pasto.
.Duque made his precision in Samaniego, in Nariño, where eight young people between 19 and 25 years old, some of them university students, were massacred.
Any violent death is a shame and that is why they cannot be differentiated with euphemisms. Life is the maximum value whether it be uniform or not. Massacre is massacre.

This Monday, three soldiers of the National Army and a noncommissioned officer were killed by members of an illegal armed group in the rural area of Sardinata, while they were carrying out work to eradicate illicit crops.
(We suggest: Why is Federico Gutiérrez so belligerent?)
Dear President Iván Duque, a kind correction: you don’t say “massacre” you say “collective homicide.”

Users reacted to this fact.
All the massacres are deeply painful, all of them. Those who juggle with euphemisms end up entangled in their empty verbiage that nothing solves or alleviates.

All lives hurt. All massacres must be rejected. This bloodbath must stop. But they should not do politics with the deaths, the murder and torture of 5 poor minors is not the same as that of 4 soldiers who served in a red zone.
