“This has not been made publicly known but on Saturday President Iván Duque and the vice president were in Cartagena in the possession of the new commander of the Army and I had the opportunity to speak with the president and he told me that Cartagena will be the first city in Colombia to which international flights will be authorized. We hope it will be in the very short term, ”said Dau.
The mayor stressed that the reactivation of tourism is important for Cartagena, since many families depend on it, which is why it is expected that after resuming operations at the Rafael Núñez Airport, the economic impact left by the pandemic will be mitigated.
“We started the economic and social reactivation to gradually restore the quality of life of Cartagena, who part of their livelihood derives from tourism,” said William Dau.
Finally, the president reminded citizens that the key in this new phase of selective isolation and the reactivation of various sectors is to maintain self-care.
“I cannot deny that I am afraid of a regrowth, that is why the key is self-care, that is why I invite you to continue with biosecurity measures to be able to move forward without problems,” he said.
