Presidential Advisor Victor Muñoz hoped to turn CoronApp into the key tool to control COVID-19 in the country. Although it had to reach almost 48 million Colombians to track their symptoms, it only covers a little more than 5 million active users. Now President Iván Duque wants to give a second chance to this project, which cost him $ 775 million to start up, making its use mandatory for all people who want to travel by plane.
Once travelers buy the plane ticket, they must carry out the antigen test with the laboratories of each EPS. The result of this will be sent to CoronApp, which all passengers must have unloaded in a mandatory way, and before boarding they will be asked for a copy to be able to board. The negative for COVID should not be greater than 48 hours and if it is positive they will not be able to make the trip. With this new requirement, the government would meet its goal of reaching a large number of households in Colombia.
