Nairo Quintana: “It was a good stage, we arrived quite well”

Nairo Quintana responded on the first mountain stage of the 2020 Tour de France. The Colombian cyclist continues in the fight and after the first two stages he is 17 seconds behind Julian Alaphilippe of Deceuninck – Quick Step, leader of the general classification after winning the stage, with the same times as Sergio Higuita (4), Esteban Chaves (6), Egan Bernal (8), Rigoberto Urán (25) and Miguel Ángel López (29).

Team Arkéa – Samsic rider spoke after the second stage, which began and ended in Nice and had three mountain prizes, two of the first category (Col de la Colmiane and Col de Turini) and one of the second category (Col d’Eze). Quintana was calm and made a positive balance of his arrival at the goal with the group of favorites.

“It was a good stage, we arrived in a small group but quite well and without problems. We were very attentive to cuts, attacks and others. I’m happy because I arrived well, calm and without any problem, “he said at the end of the stage.

In the first stage, Nairo Quintana suffered a crash, but thanks to his good reaction he was able to continue in the race quickly. The Boyacense is in optimal health conditions and with his team hopes to continue working to move up the general classification in search of the yellow jersey.

The third stage of the Tour de France 202 will be run this Monday and It will have a 198-kilometer route that will start in Nice and end in Sisteron. The stage will have four mountain prizes, three third and one fourth category, and will begin at 4:30 am (Colombian time).
