After five days in which theories were speculated about the loud noise that was felt andn the sky of Medellín and the south of the Aburrá valley, the mystery has already been solved.

The Metropolitan Area of Valle de Aburrá (AMVA) explained this Friday that it was a company, as had been denounced by several citizens on social networks.

The incident occurred on Sunday night in the municipality of Itagüí, but was heard in part of the south of Medellín and neighboring municipalities, such as Envigado.

“The Mayor’s Office and the Metropolitan Area verified that it was a fall in the power supply of one of the boilers of a company located in our city. The noise was caused by the activation of the safety valves of this company, “explained Sebastián Zuleta Zea, Itagüí’s Secretary of the Environment.

This is how they registered it on social networks:

According to the environmental authority, at the Ditaires noise monitoring station (Itagüí sector) up to 100 decibels were recorded, which is why it was heard with such intensity.

“We asked this industry to establish a plan or a mechanism so that these episodes did not happen again. However, this was a mechanism to mitigate a greater risk and that really protected us from other possible episodes,” explained Ana María Roldán, environmental deputy director of the AMVA.

On the other hand, the official explained another fact that citizens denounced: three columns of water vapor seen coming out of the factory. This is because due to the atmospheric conditions of the Aburrá valley, these columns were accumulated.

“However, that did not generate any kind of pollution to the atmosphere,” admitted Roldán.

With the explanation, the possibility that was being handled previously is ruled out, that it was the cielomoto phenomenon, which had already been felt in the capital of Antioquia in February and which was reported fifteen days ago also in the Coffee Axis.
