Bogota | Shopping Centers ask Claudia López for further reactivation – Bogotá

The mayor of Bogotá, Claudia López, has a new request on the table to make the economic reopening in the city even more flexible.

This time it is a letter sent by the Association of Shopping Centers of Colombia, Acecolombia, which stated “An immense concern after receiving and analyzing the model with which the different economic activities in Bogotá will operate and through which the operating capacity of the shopping centers is further restricted.”

The letter is signed by Carlos Hernán Betancourt, executive director of Acecolombia, and by Pablo Hernández, president of the board of directors of Acecolombia.

Acecolombia estimates that, to date, 44,000 jobs have been lost and 1,700 stores have been closed in Bogotá’s shopping centers.

“At this point, and after five months of restricted operation, it is completely unsustainable for shopping centers to maintain operations with the activation plan proposed by their government“Acecolombia writes to López.

According to the district decree, shopping centers can open, but with rules and entry hours:

To go to essential commerce: From Sunday to Sunday, without restrictions (peak and ID apply).

To go to non-essential commerce: From Wednesday to Sunday. The time slot allowed is from 5 am to 9 pm (peak and schedule apply).

To go to food courts: From Wednesday to Sunday from 5 am to 10 pm (the reactivation will begin once the gastronomic businesses are authorized, one by one, by the Mayor’s Office). Note that the addresses do work all week. (Peak and ID not applicable).

The peak and ID control will be made at the entrance of the establishments that operate with the measure.(We explain what Claudia López said about pick and ID in Bogotá)

What Acecolombia asks

The association asks the mayor:

Withdraw the peak measure and schedule as a condition of access to retail goods stores.

Reconsider operating day restrictions and allow seven days a week to work. This in the case of non-essential retail trade, because supermarkets, drug stores and other essential commercial establishments can operate every day and without restriction of hours.

“We can give a guarantee of non-crowding, which lies in the fulfillment of gauges that we execute and maintain rigorously and in strict compliance with security protocols,” the letter indicates.
