In the midst of Invima’s accompaniment of 19 national initiatives of mechanical fan projects developed by different universities and private industry. The Institute revealed that one of these, carried out in Medellín, under the name InnspiraMED that seeks the approval of 3 prototypes for use in humans, it is in the final validation phase.

The entity confirmed that after May 7 and 8, the medical devices were reviewed by the Specialized Room of the Invima Review Commission, important progress was evidenced, which allows that at this moment the initiative is validating the final requirements, to start human testing.

“The InnspiraMED Initiative remains committed to addressing the missing requirements in the shortest possible time, for the approval of the human clinical trial with the prototypes of mechanical ventilators, to contribute with this initiative in the mitigation of part of the national demand for these devices in the midst of the emergency by COVID-19.

It is worth noting that InnspiraMED is an initiative that associates more than 50 entities and companies that aim to create low-cost mechanical fans, for the care of critically ill patients as a result of the pandemic.
