A part of the protocol was announced by the Minister of Transportation, Angela María Orozco, who explains the final document will be approved and published by the Ministry of Health.
What will be established involves all the stages: passengers will have to arrive 2 hours before the flight (even if it is a national one), there will be a temperature measurement at the airport entrance, the rows will be restricted based on the distance required to avoid a COVID-19 contagion.
According to Minister Orozco told Blu Radio, any type of contact between passengers will also be eliminated and the compulsory use of masks will be required.
“Do not carry hand luggage, there will be disinfection of luggage in the hold, there will be 3 different lines to board flights and a maximum of 10 passengers per row. That control has to be very careful, “explained the minister.
He also stated that it is very possible that a policy is adopted so that there is an intermediate seat between each passenger, a fact that could possibly increase the value of tickets. However, this is still under study.
The official also explained that the planes must be disinfected and when passengers arrive in another city, they must also comply with the appropriate sanitary controls.
“It is a process that will involve much more time and dedication on the part of all operators and passengers. Times will change, “added the minister.
On the limitation of not carrying hand luggage, Angela María Orozco explained to the same station that she refers to the small suitcases that are located on the top of the seats. He says that he can carry a wallet or something very small in his hand.
The Government does not confirm yet when the national flights in Colombia will be reactivated and everything will depend on the intelligent quarantine process that is currently underway.
Even, it must be remembered that a few days ago a controversy was generated because Avianca began selling flight tickets after last May 11. At that time, President Iván Duque had to leave to slow down the airline’s process.
“I want to be very clear: no airline is authorized to sell tickets in Colombia after May 11.”
The head of state indicated that who will determine when to proceed will be the National Government and not the companies.
