The emergency occurred in block 7 of the university city. Three Medellín firefighting fire engines were dispatched.
According to the Administrative Department of Disaster Risk Management of Medellín (Dagrd), at 7:30 a.m. the fire was controlled.
“At 7:30 a.m. three crews of Dagrd Medellín and Bomberos Medellín controlled an office fire inside block 7 in U. de A. The causes of the fire are unknown, ”the agency reported.
In an affected place it is located in the Physics block, where some elements used for academic tests are stored.
From the University of Antioquia they said that the fire only affected an office where the laboratory works and that a balance is made to determine the causes.
The university city has been closed since March 15 due to the coronavirus emergency and the entry of personnel is restricted to some officials from the surveillance and maintenance area.
