Luis Fernando Muriel left the field of play at 45 minutes after feeling a discomfort in his back. The Colombian, who scored Atalanta’s first two goals in the 3-2 victory, was replaced by Gian Piero Gasperini for the start of the second half. In his place came Josip Ilicic.
In his post-match remarks in Bergamo, the Italian coach confirmed that Muriel felt something on his sword and as a precaution he removed it from the field. He hopes that it is nothing serious and that he can train normally during the week to prepare for the next date against Fiorentina as a visitor.
“Muriel had a physical problem, a back pain. It shouldn’t be anything serious.”Gasperini told the Italian press. The coach also highlighted the play of his team and the mentality of his players to face this match against Udinese, which has them getting closer and closer to getting a place in the next UEFA Champions League.
The Colombian striker reached 18 goals in Serie A this Saturday, establishing himself as one of the top three scorers in that league, he is also the number 1 of his team. Duván Zapata, his attacking partner, also scored at Gewiss Stadium and added his eleventh score in Calcio 2020/21.
