Salento is usually one of the municipalities of the Coffee Axis that attracts the most visitors during vacation times, and the Easter Week of the pandemic was no exception.
It is not a considerably large town, and even its busiest streets are considerably narrow.. The viewpoint of the Valle del Cocora and its handicraft sales are its main attractions, but what was seen this Friday seemed to exceed even the busiest days of any normal year.
The images, disclosed by El Tiempo, a medium that attributes them to the photographer @javierpress, show that There were really many travelers who came to visit Salento just this April 2.
👉 Hundreds of tourists came this #Holy Friday to Salento, Quindio. The government of the department estimates that during Holy Week about 200 thousand people arrived.

However, this would not be the only case. In the department there would be several municipalities that would have been full of visitors during this season, according to other users of social networks:

Jorge Tovar, a professor at the University of Los Andes, indicated that Salento has maintained good rates of contagion by COVID-19, with just a week above 5 since February, but warned that It will be necessary to watch if the invasion of tourists ends up having an impact in the coming days.
#We go like this El Tiempo spoke of hundreds of tourists in Salento, 200 thousand in Quindío during Holy Week. One can follow how such a pilgrimage will evolve, and considering that the most serious cases are probably attended in Armenia or Pereira. pic.twitter.com/EHl3yXEq8y
