“I do not wish this to nobody. I never thought that crime would touch us in such a cruel and ruthless way. It is a very strong blow for our family, my father did not deserve this ”.

With a broken voice, but with impressive strength and courage, Sandra Navas Ceballos speaks of the murder of her father, Eduardo William Navas Castillo, who disappeared on Friday afternoon and was found dead on Sunday morning in a mountain area of the Variante-Mamonal, in Nelson Mandela.

The search

Since Friday, the relatives of Navas and the authorities were looking for him. “My dad was a taxi driver, but I bought a car and he was driving it. We downloaded the InDriver app for him to work with, but he didn’t know how to use it, so what he did was pick up known passengers, friends, family, everything to keep him safe, since we were afraid that he would pick up a lot of strangers. He also did not work at night and always used two cell phones, “added the daughter.

Sandra said that on Friday, at 8 pm, they began their search because “I was never that late. We went to her house in El Socorro and she was alone, so we worried more ”. It should be noted that two years ago William was the victim of a robbery where he was beaten, so he drove with caution and was always communicating with his family.

The relative added that her father’s station was in front of the Los Executives Medical Center – Pedro de Heredia Avenue – and that he was there that day. “At 11 in the morning I spoke to him on the phone, not thinking that it would be the last time. Then he made a run for a passenger he knew and from then on we lost track of her, until they told us that they had found a body, “he said.

Terrible ending

Sandra and Claudia, the William daughters, did not come to the place to verify if the body found was that of their father, it was a very big impression, especially for Claudia, who is pregnant. “He was an uncle and a son-in-law. They saw him and recognized him by the documents he was carrying, by the pink shirt he was wearing, and by his little hairs. The car he was driving does not appear, nor the cell phones, but that is the least of it at the moment, ”said the daughter, who believes that the homicide occurred to take the car from her.

“The car was bought second, but it was new and I think they killed him to take it from him and that he opposed it,” he said painfully. William was found with his hands bound and apparently shot in the head; however, Sandra says she is not sure of that.

“What they tell us is that he has bruises, we hope that Legal Medicine will give us more details. We ask God that crime ends in our city, ”said the woman. Some sources assured this medium that he was shot.

Doing research

The Metropolitan Police Command said that “unfortunately we informed the public that in the Nelson Mandela neighborhood, on the Tubo Caribe trail, the lifeless body of this citizen was found. We are awaiting the report of the results of the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences, which will be in charge of establishing the causes of death.

“The National Police, in a joint effort with the other authorities, placed all its institutional capacities in the area with the aim of identifying, locating and capturing those responsible.”
