During this penultimate weekend of March, the numbers of vaccines against the coronavirus received by Colombia will increase. Between Saturday and Sunday, two numerous batches of doses will arrive at the El Dorado airport in Bogotá: one of them will contain 774,320 Chinese Sinovac vaccines, while the other will contain 244,800 AstraZeneca vaccines.
A little more than 2.2 million biologicals have arrived in Colombia so far, during this first month of vaccination. So, with the lots that will arrive this weekend, the country will have already received more than 3.2 million biologicals.
These days will be the first batch of AstraZeneca vaccines, the same one that this week has been the subject of controversy after 13 countries in the world canceled the vaccination with the doses of that pharmaceutical company after some cases of deceased people were registered later. to be immunized with them.
However, the World Organization insisted that the AstraZeneca vaccine is safe and, therefore, the National Government has also expressed its total confidence in the doses of the British pharmaceutical company. This Friday the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson, gave a boost to that vaccine and received the first dose of it.
A couple of weeks ago, more than 1.5 million Chinese Sinovac vaccines arrived in the country. Almost all those doses have already been distributed throughout the national territory. The Chinese vaccine is the one that has arrived in the country in greater quantity, followed by that of Pfizer and now that of AstraZeneca.
The Government has not yet confirmed how the vaccines that will arrive this weekend will be distributed, information that would be specified in the coming days through a resolution of the Ministry of Health.
