The first president had a meeting with the head of the Comunes party thanks to the work of the UN verification mission.
President Iván Duque and the leader of the Comunes party, Rodrigo Londoño, known in the war as Timochenko, have met three times since the first president assumed the presidency. The last meeting between them took place this Wednesday, thanks to the coordination of Carlos Ruiz Massieu, head of the UN verification delegation.
Not only were the ex-guerrilla leader and the president present at the meeting, but Pastor Alape was on the side of Comunes. For the Government, the High Commissioner for Peace, Miguel Ceballos, made an appearance; the counselor for stabilization, Emilio Archila; and María Paula Correa, chief of staff. The issue, how could it be otherwise, was the implementation of the peace agreements signed between the extinct FARC guerrilla and the Colombian State.
According to information known this Friday, the dialogue between the parties was marked by fraternity and conciliation. So much so that a roadmap would have been established to advance on implementation issues in what remains of the Iván Duque government and in front of the next administration.

According to the report given by Londoño, “actions were projected to comply with what was agreed in Havana. Finally, during the balance of the meeting, the also known as Timochenko called on the international community and Colombians to continue supporting the agreement.
The meeting this Wednesday is framed in the request that Rodrigo Londoño had been making for a meeting with the current president Iván Duque and former president Juan Manuel Santos, administration with which the FARC signed the peace accords. The requested meeting took place, but was not attended by the president between 2010-2018.
