Thanks to the permission given by the mayor of Bogotá to start the bar reactivation pilot, it is expected to start with 2,000 of the 20,000 businesses of this type in the city. These are the biosafety protocols.
Bars are among the group of companies most affected by the pandemic, as they were among the first to close and the last to open. It should be remembered that in recent weeks the clamor of the owners of this type of commercial establishments has been latent, who ask that a pilot be implemented that allows them to reactivate.

The restriction that prevented the operation of the gastrobars, led hundreds of people who work for this sector to take to the streets to express their discontent. The District listened to them and committed to working on the implementation of protocols that would allow progress in their reactivation.
This Monday the Secretary of Economic Development, Carolina Durán, announced that the promise made to this union was fulfilled, since the mayor Claudia López gave the yes for the District Government Secretariat to request the Ministry of the Interior the biosafety protocol for reopening of these commercial establishments.
Durán explained that owners can register their establishment (to be part of the pilot) on the website bogota.gov.co/reactivacion-economica/ (the button will be available from this Tuesday). It is expected to start with 10% of the bars in the city, that is, 2,000. Once the form is completed, the establishment will receive the District’s response in no more than 48 hours.

The Interior Ministry is expected to give the go-ahead to the city next Thursday. Thus, the commercial establishments that meet the requirements and carry out the process this Tuesday, would be enabled to open their doors this weekend.
It should be noted that this is a pilot, so its impact on the city, and possible adjustments, will be analyzed before massifying it to the more than 20,000 bars that the city has.
Among the biosafety protocols is respect for social distancing, which should not be less than two meters between table and table. Establishments are suggested to pre-sell the ‘cover’, in order to avoid crowds on the road. Similarly, the permanent use of the mask is required, as well as the prohibition of dancing or any type of close interaction between people.

Among the requirements that these establishments must meet is providing the service in a ventilated area, either because it operates outdoors, or because it has an artificial ventilation system. They will also incorporate strategies that are already working in restaurants, such as offering the menu through QR codes, biosecurity measures for table service and the implementation of a reservation system.
This is part of the District’s efforts to reactivate the economy, since some 120,000 people depend on this work. However, the virus continues and the call by the authorities not to confuse these openings with the fact that the guard can now be lowered.
