Faced with the rebound in covid-19 infections in the country, President Iván Duque warned this Friday that we must move towards a safe reactivation, but that this depends on the citizen culture of Colombians, as he was emphatic in that “the pandemic has not gone away and will be present for practically all of this year, still making progress in vaccination programs. “

In this way, he affirmed that “this year we have to mentalize ourselves to be with masks, with distance, without crowds and with biosafety protocols.”

The president also issued a strong warning about the relaxation that took place in December in the protection measures and that brought “collection accounts.”

“We have to be aware that what we did in some places, in some families, could have been done wrong in December and that brings collection accounts. And that message is very important for all Colombians, because we warn about it here in ‘Prevention and action’: if we relax in the use of masks and promote crowds within the home, especially on the day of the candles and after the days of novenas, because we would have 14, 15 days later the consequences. Today we are living them ”, Duque said about the new measures that the National Government took for the local leaders to apply.

“We said very clearly since December that, if we relaxed in the use of the mask, if we relaxed causing agglomerations inside the home, if we were not protecting the relatives who are within the population of greater risk, or those who they have preexistence and comorbidities, we would have to face adverse circumstances in January, “said the head of state.
