Juan Cruz Real, the coach of América de Cali, fulfilled this Tuesday one of the great promises he had made if he managed to become champion with the ‘Red Devils’: to walk from Pascual Guerrero to Buga.

The 44-year-old Argentine strategist, a faithful believer in God, became another ‘fan’ of the Lord of Miracles, the one who visited days before the final in front of Santa Fe to ask him to give him wisdom to be able to conquer the fifteenth star, just as it happened on December 27.

Cruz left this Tuesday for Buga in an energetic way, and without being daunted by the rainy weather of the whole day in the Valle del Cauca department.

And he also did it in a stealthy way, since the fans and the Cali press found out about his extensive route thanks to the publications on social networks that some people who met the strategist along the way began.

During the journey (65.3 kilometers), Cruz was seen walking in black shorts and a gray America training shirt, which made a few fans, recognizing him, stop him to ask for autographs and photographs.

The news of his ‘pilgrimage’ quickly reached Buga, so the Guadalajara hotel, one of the most traditional in that city, offered to host him this Tuesday night.

In addition, the mayor of Buga, Julián Rojas, waited for him at the entrance of the basilica, a place where he received a quality reception late at night, where he was received by a multitude of fans of the scarlet box.

Juan Cruz began his pilgrimage this Tuesday at 9:00 am from the Pascual Guerrero stadium and after 14 hours on foot he arrived at the ‘Lady City’ at around 11:00 pm, together with his friend Darío, his adventure companion, who It motivated him throughout the journey to fulfill his promise for the achievement of taking América to the bichampionship after a 2020 full of many uncertainties at the national level in the sports field.

“Tired but happy. We walked for about 14 hours, we had to change our socks and shoes because we got a little blisters,” said the Argentine strategist in an exclusive talk with El País once he entered the Buga Basilica.

Cruz Real also confirmed that he is a man of his word, because days ago he had already fulfilled another of his oaths if he was champion: to paint his hair red.

With promises fulfilled, the Argentine now expects a 2021 full of successes with the Scarlets.
