Three hit men attacked the lives of César Augusto Vallejo and Elizabeth Vallejo at dawn yesterday in the village of Barú.

As far as a cabin, where the two people had been staying since last December 25, the criminals arrived and attacked them with firearms. César Vallejo, 53, was shot in the abdomen, which also compromised his spleen and lung, for which he is in intensive care. Elizabeth Vallejo, 38, was wounded in the chest; is in intermediate care.

According to the authorities, César Vallejo is known by the alias of ‘Niño’ and would be the brother of Édgar Guillermo Vallejo Guarín, alias ‘Beto Gitano’, who paid a sentence in the United States and returned to Colombia in 2018, suffering an attack on 2 August 2019 in Calima Darién, municipality of Buga, in Valle del Cauca.

According to the first inquiries made by the Police, ‘Beto Gitano’ would be the owner of the establishment where the attack occurred. It is also presumed that his brother, César Vallejo, is allegedly linked to a family clan dedicated to drug trafficking in the city of Pereira, also associated with extortion actions and the loan of money under the drop by drop modality.

The mobiles currently being handled by the authorities are of possible retaliation for criminal activities.

The family clan would maintain an alliance with the criminal group La Cordillera and the defunct Envigado Office for drug trafficking issues.

Both injured have Colombian-Spanish nationality and are being treated at an assistance center in the city.
