US authorities are investigating the case of a woman who made a false report in New York, who accused an African-American teenager 14 years of stealing an iPhone. The event was recorded in a video recorded by the boy’s father, Keyon Harrold, a renowned jazz musician, and who expressed his outrage through social networks.
“I’m furious! We see this happening all the time, but it hits different when it gets home. I try to keep things positive, but nothing in this video is positive. The lady assaulted my 14-year-old son and me when we were coming down from our room at the Arlo Soho Hotel for breakfast. This person lost their iPhone and apparently my son magically acquired it (…) ”, Harrold wrote on his Instagram account.

In the video, the woman is seen arguing with the minor’s father, while she points to the adolescent’s mobile phone. “Take the case, it’s mine,” he says. To which Harrold responds, “You don’t have to explain anything to him.”
The event sparked outrage in the United States. Even the mayor of New York, Bill de Blasio, described the video through Twitter as a case of racism. “To keyon Harrold and his family: I’m sorry this happened to you. Her behavior does not represent the values of our city “.

According to CNN and Univision, a spokesman for the Manhattan District Attorney said authorities are “Thoroughly investigating this incident.” However, they did not provide further details of the investigation.
