In the capital of the country, the cases of people with covid-19 continue to increase. In fact, 28.4% of those reported in Colombia are in Bogotá. In the city there have been 452,940 cases, of which 3,141 were confirmed on December 27, 2020. The most affected are women, with 52.2% being women and the highest concentration of cases according to age is among the 20 to 49 years with a percentage weight of 61.1%.

It is feared that with the crowds presented by the Colombian soccer final, clandestine parties and family parties without due compliance with regulations and protocols, these numbers will increase in January 2021.

Today, 7.4% of cases are in a mild state, 0.2% are moderate, 0.2% are in a serious condition. 406,631 people (89.8%) have been recovered and 9,529 (2.1%) have died. 98.3% of the cases are at home, 1.4% in general hospitalization and 0.3% in Intensive Care Units (ICU). Of the total intensive care units destined for covid-19, 71.2% are occupied.

These five localities contribute 54.3% of the confirmed cases in the District, in addition 37,464 cases ‘without data’ of locality that are under epidemiological investigation are registered.

Due to this situation, measures such as the ‘pico y cédula’ will apply until January 15 to enter any establishment where activities such as the acquisition and payment of goods and services are carried out; purchase of any product at retail and wholesale. Also for banking, financial, notarial and citizen service procedures in public entities. What was not confirmed until the closing of this edition is whether, given the new cases, measures like this will be extended for more days.

The District Secretary of Health issued measures for the public and private hospital network, that allow maintaining a sufficient supply of services for people with a diagnosis of Coronavirus, as well as other pathologies. One of the main guidelines given to hospitals and clinics for this purpose was the postponement and rescheduling of non-vital surgeries and elective non-surgical procedures that require sedation. This measure seeks to reduce the occupation of general hospital beds, intermediate and intensive care units; reduce the consumption of supplies and medicine; and more effectively distribute human talent in health.

According to the entity, for this end of the year season, the best way to take care of yourself is by implementing the DAR strategy (Detect, Isolate and Report) that will prevent the spread. All citizens should be attentive to detect any symptoms related to the virus; If one is presented, you will have to isolate yourself and immediately, report to your EPS and your close contacts, to do the proper epidemiological follow-up.
