Authorities continue to investigate the motives for the accident that occurred on December 25 in Sierra Morena, Ciudad Bolívar, in the south of Bogota
, which claimed the lives of three people, including two children aged 5 and 2.

The accident happened around eight in the morning: a roar was heard in the upper part of the sector.

What had happened caught the attention of the neighbors: a truck descending from the hill lost control and hit a private vehicle in which a man was moving along with a woman and her children.

“At 8:30 in the morning there is a sinister road between a tank vehicle where this vehicle overturns and unfortunately falls on a private vehicle,” said General Carlos Rodríguez, director of the Traffic Police.

Ánderson Casallas, one of the witnesses to the accident, told what was his reaction to what happened.

“We began to help the three children first, we took them out to all three, among the same neighbors we took out all three,” he reiterated.

Investigations into what happened immediately began and the Traffic Police revealed that the driver of the tanker was a 26-year-old man who had an expired driver’s license.

“The driver of the tank vehicle did not have a valid license to drive this type of vehicle. It also has a debt of approximately one million four hundred thousand pesos in subpoena orders, “said Colonel Zulma Leguizamo, commander of the Bogotá Traffic Police.

The Prosecutor’s Office has already opened a preliminary investigation against this young man for the crime of wrongful death.

In a first version, he stated that he lost control of the tanker when the truck’s rudder broke.

However, they are awaiting the breathalyzer test to determine if he was under the influence of alcohol, and the CTI expert report to the vehicle to verify if there were mechanical failures.

The Superintendency of Transportation also does its verification work.

With this evidence, the Prosecutor’s Office will analyze the degree to which the accusation will be made, whether it is due to manslaughter or intent.
