Tesla plans to increase Model 3 production to 4,000 units a week at its Shanghai mega-factory

With the increase in weekly production, the US company wants to manufacture 200,000 vehicles annually in China.

According to the recently released Tesla financial results report for the first quarter of 2020, the volume of production of Tesla Model 3 electric cars at the company’s mega factory in Shanghai (China) is expected to increase to 4,000 units per week. .

During the first three months of 2020, the US company produced only the Standard Range Plus version of Model 3. However, in April, internet platforms were launched to design the Long Range and Perfromance versions, which will be produced at the Chinese plant.

With the increase in weekly manufacturing of Tesla Model 3 units, the Shanghai plant will go from producing 150,000 vehicles per year, the production achieved during 2019, to manufacturing 200,000 units annually.

Likewise, the report indicates that the company is working on the construction of an assembly line to produce Model Y in the near future in China.
