The Dimayor and the Ministry of Sports continue to carry out conversations, make proposals and take all measures to try to return the football of the Professional League to competition, despite the covid-19 pandemic. Playing behind closed doors is presented as the only option to resume the championship, and it is already said that it would be in a single venue to avoid so many displacements and exposure.

It seems that the enthusiasm for the return of Colombian soccer grows before the possibilities that are opening up. Thus, there is already a city that raised its hand to make itself available to the League and be the venue to play the remainder of the championship of the first half.

Cali is the first to express its desire to host the League behind closed doors, as long as an agreement is reached and the protocols required by the Ministry of Sport and the Health portfolio are met.

“We are sure that with the support of the municipalities of Palmira, Tuluá and our two contending teams: Deportivo Cali and América de Cali, we can return professional soccer to Colombia, taking into account what the National Government approves” , expressed Carlos Diago, secretary of Sport and Recreation of Cali, in statements collected by ‘El País’.

The initiative, led by Mayor Jorge Iván Ospina, arises from the belief that the capital of Valle del Cauca has sufficient sports infrastructure with the Pascual Guerrero stadium, the Deportivo Cali stadium, and would have the backing of the Tuluá stages and Palmira, nearby municipalities.

In addition, the main hotels would be available for each team to have their accommodation. “Security forces, logistics, mobility and experience of health personnel are other benefits that the Administration exposes so that the Ministry of Sport looks towards the‘ Sky Branch ’,” says the Valle del Caucano newspaper.
