This Monday, President Iván Duque regretted the death of the mother of the Minister of Health, Fernando Ruiz, María Amparo Gómez de Ruiz, and sent a message of condolences to his entire family.
The president clarified that it was not because of covid-19, but because of another pathology.

“We accompany him in these difficult moments, and we are certain that his mother passed away full of pride, full of appreciation for the work her son has done in the service of all Colombians“, assured the head of state.
The Minister of Health, Fernando Ruiz is a 62-year-old from Bogotá. He is a doctor from the Universidad Javeriana, with a master’s degree in Public Health from Harvard University.
