Reinaldo Rueda is already in Colombia to spend the end of the year season with his family and likewise begin the dialogues with the FCF for his link to the Colombian National Team.
After the departure of Carlos Queiroz from the technical direction, the Valle del Cauca strategist, with a presence in the Chile National Team, is emerging as the number one candidate to assume the position, so that, from the ANFP, they have already given authorization to start with the management.
However, despite the fact that all roads lead to Rueda, nothing official has yet been finalized with the Federation, and that is why a ‘Plan B’ is already being considered, in the event that the arrival of the 63-year-old strategist to the national team.
Precisely, amidst the uncertainty, the name of Claudio Borghi appeared on the radar and it was his representative who confirmed the rapprochement with the FCF.
“I have had a talk with one of the senior managers of the technical secretariat of the Colombian National Team and he has asked me for material and the latest curriculum from Claudio plus all my information. That was 15 days ago … This week I had a talk with him and he told me that he met with the president of the Federation, he told him about the possibility of Claudio Borghi and he has seen him favorably“Said Cristian Argiz, representative of the Argentine DT, in a dialogue with Antena 2.
Likewise, the agent pointed out that his priority, along with Borghi, is sports, with the economic issue being a secondary factor:
“The economic issue, although it is important, goes to the background because the idea is that the Colombian Federation decides on Claudio. Then we will sit down to chat, but obviously the priority is sports“.
“I always think that Claudio Borghi is made for the Colombian National Team because of the offensive game he has, the individual quality of the Colombian players and the speed they have. I think they would fit right with Claudio Borghi, it would be something fantastic if he goes because people in Colombia are going to love him, “he said.
Finally, Argiz explained that, if the arrival of Reinaldo Rueda falls, the chances for the Argentine coach to join the Tricolor are quite high:
“Surely next week I will have a talk with the Technical Secretariat of the Colombian Federation to see what decision they made. I see with good eyes the arrival of Claudio Borghi to lead the Colombian national team, “he concluded.
