This weekend, Colombia registered one of the records in the number of infections by covid-19, reaching almost 14,000 cases in a single day, which triggered alerts in most cities. One of them was Bogotá, where the mayor Claudia López, reported through her Twitter account that in the face of the increase in infections starting tomorrow, the strategy of the “peak and ID” returns to enter commercial premises and thus avoid crowds.

The measure will run from Monday, December 21, 2020 until next January 15, 2021, and it will also be a single member per family nucleus who will be able to go shopping. This measure includes those who go out to buy or pay for goods and services; retail and wholesale products, banking, financial and notarial procedures, as well as customer service in public entities. In other words, the measure must be applied by restaurants, supermarkets, mini-markets, shopping centers, banks and notaries.

“In the last two weeks the speed of contagion has increased, because a lot of people are letting their guard down. We have tried to have an enormous awareness and accompaniment to families and businesses, but we cannot relax. If we do not take additional measures, we will end up having a bitter end of the year and that is not what we want, ”said the district president.

The measure that was activated in July is repeated, by means of which on odd days only people whose identity card or identity document ends in an even digit can enter businesses; while on even days, people whose identity card or identity document ends in an odd digit will do so.

Who are exempted from the measure? Health centers, pharmacies and funeral services. It was also clarified that in the case in which the simultaneous appearance of two or more people is required in notarial, banking, financial and administrative services and procedures, the exception will be applied.

“This is the time to stay in self-care, please everyone who wants to have a meeting with their parents on December 24 and 31, should be isolated; those who are most contagious are the elderly: moms, dads, uncles and grandparents. That is why we always remind them of the permanent use of a mask, distancing, hand washing and voluntary isolation. So we can all spend a merry Christmas and a happy New Year without having anything to regret, ”said López.
