676 new infections and nine deaths in the Atlantic from Covid

Cases of coronavirus in Colombia increased again. This Wednesday is the second day in December in which the number of infections exceeds the 10,000 barrier.

The Ministry of Health reported that on December 16, 11,953 new cases of 60,638 tests were reported.

As of this Wednesday, the country has 76,833 active cases and reaches 1,456,599 reported cases.

As for the deceased, the figure also increased with 204 deaths, 183 of them from previous days and bringing the total of deaths to 39,560.

In the Atlantic, the numbers also registered an increase with 457 new infections in Barranquilla and 219 in the rest of the department, reaching a total of 84,057 reported cases.

The deaths were reported in Barranquilla (5), Baranoa (1), Soledad (1), Malambo (1) and Ponedera (1).

The highest number of infections the country had was on August 19, when there were 13,056. As for the dead, today’s 204 are the largest since October 30 when there were 209.

According to the Health portfolio, Bogotá had the highest number of infections, with 2,892 positive cases, a figure significantly lower than that of Tuesday when 4,052 were reported.

The capital is followed by the departments of Antioquia (1,821), Valle del Cauca (1,053), Santander (683), Atlántico (676), Norte de Santander (638), Risaralda (513), Caldas (476), Cundinamarca (469 ), Tolima (433), Bolívar (406), Quindío (282), Meta (238), Boyacá (221), Nariño (213) and Cesar (168).

The highest accumulation of infections continues to be found in Bogotá (414,581), Antioquia (234,797), Valle del Cauca (122,199), Atlántico (84,057), Santander (59,620) and Cundinamarca (58,623).

Of the deaths of the day, the highest number was also had by Bogotá, with 36, followed by Valle del Cauca (32), Antioquia (26), Norte de Santander (18), Cundinamarca (16), Boyacá (11) and Santander ( 10).

There were also Tolima and Atlántico deaths (9); Caldas and Huila (6); Bolívar (5), Caquetá (4), Cesar (3); Meta, Nariño, Risaralda, Sucre and Magdalena (2); Chocó, Córdoba and La Guajira (1).
