A 2-year-old boy was abandoned in a store that helps vulnerable people, in the Mississippi headquarters, U.S
, and they left him with a bag that carried a change of clothes and a note, authorities said.
Southaven Police Chief Macon Moore revealed images of the man and woman who would be involved in the case and were captured on a security camera last Sunday.
The person who was holding the boy by the hand was an African American man “who wore black sports pants and a black cowboy hat,” the officer explained.
“Then the suspect left the scene on foot. Agents responded to the call, but could not locate the suspect. The child is approximately 2 years old and cannot give his name or the names of his parents or relatives, ”he added.
The photos of the couple and the truck in which they were mobilized allowed the community to collaborate with the case and that same day the alleged perpetrators were captured.
Shortly afterwards, a woman appeared who said she was the child’s mother and had never abandoned her son.
According to her, the person responsible was a man who retaliated because she refused to prostitute herself.
“You can be sure (the child) is doing well and being cared for and will be meeting with the family when Child Protective Services determines that this is appropriate,” Chief Moore said.
