In the last hours, the bodies of Venezuelan citizens were found on the coast of Güiria, Sucre state.
The government of Venezuela reported this Sunday that it has found 14 bodies of the
wreck of a boat heading to Trinidad and Tobago, according to an official statement. The text does not confirm the estimated crew of the boat, but pointed out that “until now there is no knowledge of any citizen manifesting the disappearance of a relative.”

At least fourteen Venezuelan migrants died, including four minors, when the boat in which they tried to reach Trinidad and Tobago was wrecked, opposition politician David Smolansky denounced this Sunday.
The Venezuelan newspaper El Nacional, on the other hand, indicates that the death toll would rise to 19.
The lawyer and human rights defender, Rocío San Miguel, specified that the Coast Guard found the bodies floating 6.3 nautical miles off the coast of Güiria.
“They died seeking freedom and a better future for their families, fleeing Venezuela in an insecure way,” he denounced.
“According to relatives and friends of these people, the peñero left on December 6 from Güiria to Trinidad, was returned from the island and would have been shipwrecked,” Smolansky tweeted on his official account.
“They fled the regime and Trinidad violates the principle of non-refoulement. Images have been consigned to our office. I will not share them out of respect for the family. Pure cruelty ”, added the commissioner.

Smolansky criticized that eight days ago the authorities of Trinidad and Tobago and representatives of the Nicolás Maduro regime met to discuss the issue of human mobility and security, and these events like this still occur.
