The presidents of Colombia and Chile, Iván Duque and Sebastián Piñera, respectively, led the 15th edition of the Pacific Alliance Summit, a diplomatic block that is also made up of Peru and Mexico. In fact, this Saturday Duque was elected as the new president of that organization.
The leaders took advantage of one of the moments in which they met face to face to exchange a few words about Reinaldo Rueda, coach who will leave the Chilean team to be the replacement of Carlos Queiroz in the national team.
It was Piñera who took the first step in the conversation about the Colombian coach. “There it seems we have news”, said the Chilean president, quoted by El Tiempo, to the Colombian president.
Duque was very diplomatic in his response and avoided at all costs giving his own judgment on the arrival of Rueda to the Colombian National Team. “This is a decision that corresponds to the Colombian Soccer Federation and just as you appreciate it, we also appreciate Professor Rueda”, Concluded the president.
In the last hours, more details of the negotiation carried out by the Colombian Football Federation with the Cali strategist were known. According to Chilean media, national managers are asking Rueda to earn less than what he received per year in Chile.
During the week, the president of the Chilean football federation himself confirmed that his colleague Ramón Jesurún is talking with the coach and from that country they also reported that the Valle del Cauca player had already said goodbye to the leading players of the southern team.
It is estimated that, in the coming week, Rueda will be officially appointed as the new coach of the Colombian National Team.
