Two people died in a landslide on the Medellín-Bogotá highway

A minor is missing and five homes were affected. The road is closed.

From Antioquia, the death of two people (one of them a 7-year-old boy), a missing minor and five homes affected by a collapse in the sector of the El Silencio village, in the municipality of San Luis, one of the the steps of the highway that connects Medellín with Bogotá.

“The collapse occurred at 6:30 am We are looking for the minor, apparently buried. It’s very complex because we don’t have a machine, ”the mayor of the municipality, Henry Suárez, told RCN Radio.

What the Administrative Department of Risk Management of Antioquia recorded is that, due to the landslide, in addition to the two deaths, six people remain trapped and three have been rescued. Apparently there is also a vehicle under the lute.

Due to this situation, the road remains closed to advance the search for the minor and the extraction of those trapped. Likewise, as reported by El Colombia, Invías and machinery yellow are doing earth removal work. The Traffic Police are asking drivers to take alternate roads.

In recent days, the road that connects Medellín with Bogotá has presented closures due to landslides, as eight days ago, when a landslide was reported in the same area today affected. In that case, three homes were damaged and, fortunately, there were no fatalities.
