In an unprecedented event in the city of Ibagué, a citizen identified as Hugo Alejandro Tascón Vanegas, decided to end his life by burning himself in the northern variant, located between the El Salado sector and the Perales airport, under the astonished gaze of drivers and passers-by who were making their way through the sector at that time.
According to what could be established, the victim apparently left a letter in which he informed his family that this was the best decision for him and for the people around him.
Once a fire was set, some drivers, unaware that it was a voluntary act, decided to get out of their vehicles and with their fire extinguishers, they extinguished this man who was seriously injured. Next to the citizen remained the note, a lighter and a pack of cigarettes.
Therefore, the authorities were requested to accompany the injured person to the facilities of the Federico Lleras Acosta hospital, where at this time they are making every effort to keep him alive.
At the moment the reasons that this man had for attempting against his life in such an inhuman way are unknown.
