A fatal accident that left an 8-month-old baby dead has shocked residents of the Santo Domingo Savio neighborhood, in the northeast of Medellín.
On December 7, the minor rolled down the stairs of her home and was seriously injured. The house, located on the third floor and with spiral staircases, had an unlocked door, so little Samara Quiceno, who was barely crawling, was able to push her and, later, she fell to the first floor.

According to her parents told local media, on that date, one of the girl’s brothers, from 2-year-old wanted to leave the house after the candles had been lit early, at which point the door was unlocked.
After the fall, the little girl was unconscious and had seizures, so her parents took her to the intermediate unit in Santo Domingo and later to the Polyclinic, where she died two days later, that is, last Wednesday.

Although at first there was speculation about the possible opening of an investigation to his parents, the Metropolitan Police of Valle de Aburrá described the fact as an accidental death, and recommended that parents take safety measures.
“It is a sad and unfortunate situation that these facts are presented to us with the children. The invitation is that parents, relatives, friends, all of us, please surround ourselves to maintain security measures to avoid this type of event. It is very necessary to put a fence to protect ladders; the balconies are places that are too critical with the handling of children, they never measure the consequences, “said Colonel Daniel Mazo, citizen security operative commander.
