The idea was exposed in the Bogota Council by the Secretary of Finance Juan Mauricio Ramírez, who said that the District proposed several measures to the National Government to raise taxes.

Quoted by Blu Radio, the official said that Claudia Lopez told the Executive that there are “sources that require modifications from the national level”.

Those most affected by the new taxes would be car owners

“It was proposed, for example, to increase the surcharge for gasoline and diesel fuel, this is one of the sources that should be explored as a possibility to achieve higher collections,” said Ramírez, according to the radio frequency.

Even so, the surcharges mentioned would not be the only proposal to have more resources. The secretary also mentioned “Taxes on households with more cars.”

In addition, they would also be considering a surcharge to parking lots and “Other sources that are proposed from the development plan.”

How many taxes would those with more than two cars have to pay?

According to the station, the idea mentioned by Juan Mauricio Ramírez exposes that whoever has more than two cars you could be charged 20% more motor vehicle tax.

However, whether this initiative can be executed “depends more on the National Government and that is why this approach was made,” concluded the secretary.
