Encanto: images from a Disney movie set in Colombia – Cinema and Tv – Culture

This Thursday Disney surprised all its fans, especially the Colombian public, with a hint of what will be ‘Encanto’, the animated film directed by Byron Howard and Jared Bush and whose story is inspired by Colombia.

The short begins with the melody of the famous song by Lucho Bermúdez, ‘Colombia tierra querida’, while colorful butterflies and a house on a mountain surrounded by trees and wax palms appear on the screen, the country’s national tree.

The video is accompanied by a text in which Disney assures that this will be its big premiere in September 2021. In addition, they give a short preview of what the story will be.

The film is directed by Byron Howard and Jared Bush, co-directed and co-written by Charise Castro Smith. While the musical setting is in charge of Lin-Manuel Miranda.

In the middle of this year, Miranda had expressed in an interview with ‘Good Morning America’ that she was working with some of the Zootopia and Moana team members to bring to life a Latin American story, which would be set in Colombia.
