Águilas Doradas beat Independiente Medellín 2-1 in the closing of group A for Liguilla 2020. The golden team was ordered and with goals from Álvaro Angulo and Christian Marrugo they took the victory. Medellín discounted with Bayron Garcés. However, both teams were eliminated, due to Pereira’s victory as a visitor in Envigado. Like the fight to enter at eight, the team from eastern Antioquia lacked one point to continue competing.
In a match where both teams played to continue in competition, the game went back and forth, where Águilas was a team with more precision and danger on the rival goal. At minute 6, Jáder Obrian finished off goalkeeper Andrés Mosquera Marmolejo’s left post. The ‘golden’ attacker took advantage of a corner kick from the left sector.
Medellín reacted with a pair of arrivals on the goal of Juan David Valencia, who replaced Carlos Bejarano in this match, for having reached the fifth yellow card. As the minutes passed, the game was concentrated in the center of the pitch with a few escapes for both teams, although the score did not move.
At minute 33, Didier Delgado withdrew from the field due to an injury, instead Steven Rodríguez entered. On the 35th minute and after an incursion into local speed, Óscar Hernández filtered the ball to Andrés Renteria, who from the right side approached the area, the former Nacional and San Lorenzo sent a pass to Álvaro Angulo who pushed the ball to the back from the net, putting Águilas ahead and with Pereira’s partial draw in Envigado, they were qualifying for the next phase.
The last minutes of the first half had a great component of strong and friction game, the locals looking to stretch the advantage, while the DIM tried to equalize the commitment, although they did not have a clear order when attacking.
In the complementary stage, Medellín made two changes; goalkeeper Luis Erney Vásquez entered instead of Andrés Mosquera Marmolejo who presented a physical discomfort averaging the first half and midfielder Juan Ospina for Juan José Parra.
At minute 10 and after a good collective move, the second goal from Águilas Doradas came through Christian Marrugo, who took advantage of a pass from Jáder Obrian. The Cartagena shot the ball with his right leg at goalkeeper Vásquez’s left post.
On the 25th minute the scoreboard moved in Envigado, Pereira went on to win and regained the first place in group A. Águilas was partially eliminated because his average of 1.7 was lower than that of Once Caldas in group B, which was 2.0 product of two victories, against one and two draws for the golds. The match at the Alberto Grisales stadium was taking a back seat and now the ears were on at the Polideportivo Sur de Envigado.
Independiente Medellín discounted through Bayron Garcés, after a shot with a right leg from the left side of the inside of the area to the right squad. In the end, Águilas’ triumph was little by little with the victory of Deportivo Pereira in Envigado, who stayed with group A. Antioquia teams should think about 2021.
