This Wednesday night the ruling of the promiscuous court of the Chinchiná circuit, Caldas, which ordered punish the director of the National Police, General Óscar Atehortúa, and the Minister of Defense, Carlos Holmes Trujillo, for contempt.

The ruling is the response to the incident of contempt promoted by Mr. Faiber Jahir Moreno Salazar against the National Police and the Ministry of Defense by the “non-compliance with a guardianship ruling issued on August 26, 2019” that ordered them to promote the promotion course to Major Moreno Salazar.
The breach occurred, according to the document, because “despite having undergone the professional career evaluation procedure to be called to the promotion course, (Moreno Salazar) was notified on February 25, 2020 that his name he had not been recommended to present the competition prior to the training course for promotion to the rank of lieutenant colonel (..) “.

For this reason, Judge César Augusto Cruz imposed on Trujillo and Atehortúa the arrest for three calendar days that “They must comply in the Police School or in a similar Public Institution in this regard in the city of Bogotá.”
According to the ruling document, the commander of the Bogotá Police Department has, to comply with the order, “three calendar days following receipt of the communication (…) and for them to report in writing within two days following the date on which those sanctioned comply with the aforementioned ordinance “.
Finally, the court imposed a fine of two minimum wages for each. In addition, it indicated that they will continue to be punished for contempt so successively until they fully comply with said sentence.

The document also resolved that President Iván Duque will not be punished for contempt and that the decision is not “subject to any appeal.”
