Roberto Celedón, mayor of the municipality of Baranoa
, in Atlántico, is at the center of the controversy for attending a candlelight party in the middle of the curfew.
The celebration took place in the Campeche district and videos published on social networks show that none of the attendees complied with the use of a mask or social distancing.
Various artists performed at the private party. It should be noted that during the celebration of candles, there was a curfew in the municipality, until five in the morning on December 8.
However, Celedón responded to the criticism with a statement in which he stated that he did not violate the curfew because he arrived at the site when the measure had already been lifted.
“After lighting the candles at home with my wife, as can be seen in the publication made on social networks, I arrived at around 5:10 am at the Campeche district, where the Immaculate Conception is commemorated, and I was received by some friends, “he said.
He added that “the place he was in did not exceed the maximum of 50 people.”
However, the situation has generated controversy taking into account the recommendation of President Iván Duque to celebrate this date at home and with people from the same family nucleus.
