Women were caught while stealing cell phones in Transmilenio

It is believed that both in Transmilenio under the modality of “tickling”. At the time of their capture, they found a cell phone that belonged to one of the passengers.

Two women were captured by the Police this Monday, after being caught stealing cell phones in Transmilenio. According to the colonel Jimmy Palacios, who is the inspection officer of the Metropolitan Police of Bogotá, said that the arrest of both was achieved thanks to the timely reaction of the uniformed officers.

“The Metropolitan Police are accompanying the entire TransMilenio articulated system, the feeders, SITP buses and thanks to this at the Jiménez station we managed to capture two women in flagrante delicto who were taking a person’s cell phone,” said Palacios.

Apparently, these women had been committing thefts in this transport system under the modality of “tickling”, which consists of going through the pockets of the victims to extract their belongings without them realizing it.

At the time of the capture it was found that the women had in their possession a cell phone valued at $ 850.00, which belonged to one of the passengers. Both were left at the disposal of the authorities.

According to the Secretariat of Security, with a cut to October, Bogotá registered 38,992 cases of cell phone theft, which translates into 10,794 fewer if compared to those consolidated for the same period of time in 2019. January was the year where the number was higher (with 5,550). In 2019, the month that registered the most cases was December, with 5,985 cases.

In 2020, the town with the highest number of cell theft cases was Suba, with 4,154 cases, followed by Engativá (4,097), Kennedy (4,087), Usaquén (2,832) and Chapinero (2,585).
