Some members asked their own government if they knew about the alleged entrapment against Santrich.
Several members of the House of Lords of the British Parliament questioned the role of President Iván Duque Márquez and his government in the implementation of the peace agreement. “The recent report that reveals details of an operation by the Attorney General’s Office apparently designed to trap the FARC negotiators and undermine the peace process is alarming. The Prosecutor’s Office led by Néstor Humberto Martínez supposedly provided five kilos of cocaine for the operation, but this and other information was not shared with the courts, ”said Christine Blower, of the Labor Party.
Blower asked his own government if it was aware of this operation when Santrich was captured in 2018 and urged the authorities of that country to express their assessment of the revelations made by El Espectador.
On the other hand, Tariq Ahmad, from the Conservative Party, focused on the risk situation that exists for the communities and ex-combatants of the Farc and its relationship with the drug problem. Ahmad also mentioned that there is knowledge in the British Parliament about the illegal surveillance carried out by the Public Force against activists, members of the opposition and journalists.
