Transmilenio confirmed that the driver who died last Thursday, April 30 from a cardio respiratory arrest, tested positive for Covid – 19. The man was on vacation from April 2 to 11 and, according to the transport system, when he returned to At work, on April 12, he had no symptoms. A day later, the driver began virtual theory training.
The man drove on Monday, April 20, Tuesday, April 21, Thursday, April 23 and Friday, April 24, and during those days the entity took the temperature of all the system’s personnel and the driver did not present a fever.
However, last Saturday, April 25, the man reported to the entity that he had flu symptoms, so Transmilenio activated the security protocol for these cases. The driver was isolated at home with the accompaniment of the transportation system and the attention of his EPS.
At that time, the driver told the entity that days before he had gotten wet during a downpour when he was traveling on his motorcycle and it was to this that he attributed the flu. On Sunday, April 26, he and his wife were tested for Covid-19.

On Wednesday, April 29, the driver began to present difficulties in breathing, so he was transferred to the Hospital de Suba and there he was referred to the Simón Bolívar Hospital. Unfortunately, the next day, Thursday, April 30, he passed away. The center of attention assured that the death had occurred due to cardio-respiratory arrest.
Although it was speculated that the man could be a carrier of the virus, the positive result of his test was only known until this Saturday, May 2.
Transmilenio mourned the death of its operator and assured that the drivers of the system are insulated with security tape in the cabin in which they drive to avoid contact and proximity with users.
The nine buses that the man drove during the five days he worked were washed and disinfected during that time. The system ordered the operators with whom it had contact to enter isolation and are being monitored by the company. Likewise, the Ministry of Health carries out the respective epidemiological surveillance of the case.
