The Colombian cyclist Jos Tito Hernndez (Medelln) has been awarded the 60th edition of the Clsico RCN de Colombia after maintaining the leadership in the eighth and last stage, a day of 130.6 kilometers played this Sunday between the towns of Medelln and Concepcin.
Hernndez, who donned the leader’s jersey after finishing third in the individual time trial of the fifth stage, overcame the last hurdle without complications to finish at the top of the podium of the Colombian round.
“The victory is the product of the work of the team that has supported me since I took the lead – fifth stage – and thanks to that I was able to sustain myself until today,” said Hernndez.
The new 25-year-old winner of the Clsico was champion of the 2012 Vuelta del Porvenir and his most recent international triumph came last March when he won the Grand Prix of Patagonia, in Chile.
Hernndez was in European cycling for two years but did not achieve good results with the Italian GM Cycling Team and that is why he returned in 2016 to Colombia, where he raced with the GW Shimano, and from there he went to Team Medelln with whom he just achieved his greatest triumph as a professional cyclist.
The pdium was completed by the Spanish scar Sevilla (Medelln) and the Colombian Didier Merchn (Colombia Tierra de Atletas).
José Tito Hernández happened in the palmars of Classic RCN to his teammate Scar Sevilla.
The last stage victory was taken alone in Concepcin by the local Cristhian Montoya (Medelln), after leaving the company of Germn Gmez (UAE Colombia), second finally.
The classification of the mountain went to Salvador Moreno, from the EPSA team, who continues to show that he is one of the strongest cyclists in the ascent, since in the last Vuelta a Colombia he was also the best in that specialty.
