The Supreme Court of Justice accused the representative to the Chamber Leon Fredy Muñoz Lopera, who will face trial for drug offenses.
The case against you is because in June 2018 He was arrested at the José María Córdova International Airport, in Rionegro (Antioquia), with 160 grams of cocaine.
Specifically, an accusation resolution was issued against him for the crime of trafficking, manufacture or possession of narcotics as a direct author and in the form of “taking with him”.
Muñoz, a congressman from the Alianza Verde party who came to that position with 33,000 votes, was heard in inquiry in the Investigation Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice in October of last year.

Although in June 2018 he had been captured at the airport, when he arrived in Rionegro from a flight from Bogotá, and was later transferred to a police command, he was later released by order of a judge.
Because he is a constitutional expert, being a congressman, his case went to the Supreme Court of Justice.

At the time, Muñoz’s defense pointed out that it was a setup, and said that the suitcase in which the drug was found had been carried by other people and that he is innocent. He also said that his case was allegedly a political persecution for the complaints against the Suárez Mira family.
The authorities that participated in the procedure indicated in 2018 that his capture was part of operations that were being carried out at random at airports, carried out by Anti-narcotics, in the face of new forms of internal drug and currency trafficking that had been detected.
According to Colonel Juan Carlos Sierra, Antioquia Police Commander, said at the time, since Muñoz got off the flight until his suitcase was searched in the anti-narcotics control area, all the events were recorded in the airport security cameras.

The representative was born in the municipality of Ituango, but his political management has been carried out in Bello, where he was a councilor (2012 and 2015) and later aspired to the mayor’s office. There he is considered one of the main political opponents of the Suárez Mira.
At the time, the Alianza Verde party said that Muñoz’s behavior “has always been that of an honest, transparent leader committed to his community.”
