The death of a 5-year-old boy when hit by a car has shocked both the authorities and the inhabitants of Alabama, in United States.
The incident happened when the victim, identified as Austin Bridseye, was taken out of the car by her mother’s boyfriend as punishment because he was making a lot of noise.
The man, named Bryan Starr, only became aware of the boy’s death when he saw a crowd of people around the body, US media reported.
Although emergency services were able to reach the site to try to help the minor, he was pronounced dead at Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital.
In addition, it was said that Starr, who is an Army sergeant, was alone with the child, a fact that is being investigated by the authorities to establish with certainty what happened the minutes before the death.
Starr, noted for his 17 years as a military man, surrendered to the authorities and is in custody while under investigation for reckless murder.
