By order of the Supreme Court of Justice Senator Eduardo Pulgar Daza has just been captured. The high court investigates him for bribery, influence peddling and crimes against democratic participation.
The case is related to the offer he made to a judge denounced by journalist Daniel Coronell.

The Attorney General’s Office, on August 14, held a disciplinary trial hearing in which it made it clear to Senator Eduardo Pulgar that with his action of offering “200 bars” to judicially favor the honorary former consul of Poland in Colombia, Luis Fernando Acosta Osío, would have violated the dignity and majesty of justice and its correct administration.
In addition, the control body rejected, in a virtual disciplinary trial hearing held on October 7, Senator Pulgar Daza’s request that his process be left to the Congressional Ethics Commission.

According to his lawyer, criminal lawyer Jaime Granados, the conflict of jurisdiction arose after someone filed a complaint with the Senate Ethics Commission (of which Pulgar is a member) for the same events.

Former Consul Luis Fernando Acosta Osío
The name of the former consul and renowned businessman from Barranquilla, Luis Fernando Acosta Osío, has also come to light in several judicial proceedings related to a dispute over the millionaire inheritance of former congressman Gabriel Acosta Bendek and his wife, Sofía Acero de Acosta.
The fight is between the couple’s only daughter, Ivonne Acosta Acero, her half brother Alberto Acosta Pérez and his cousins –among whom is Luis Fernando Acosta Osío–.
According to the files, the former consul and his cousins, with questioned actions that are being debated in court today, managed to keep control of the former senator’s inheritance: the Acosta Bendek Foundation (FAB), which in turn controls the Metropolitan University Hospital of Barranquilla and the Metropolitan University of Barranquilla.
Besides that case, Acosta Osío is also mentioned in a process of alleged judicial corruption involving Jorge Eliécer Mola Capera, magistrate of the Superior Court of Barranquilla.

“Let’s see, senator, in principle I accepted the meeting here this morning through Mayor Ronald, but I am a very serious man. You are talking to me about business, I am not for that. Let me do the hearing for you; Let me explain to you first why it supposedly gets there. Ronald approached me this afternoon and said, doctor, but why Usiacurí? Ronald, you know that Usiacurí has been moving, has handled delicate guarantee cases, I have handled delicate cases there ”, Judge Rodríguez is heard when he rejects Senator Pulgar’s offer. The audio was revealed by journalist Daniel Coronell, in his column on the Los Danieles portal.
The congressman will be transferred to the prosecutor’s bunker, after CTI agents make his arrest warrant effective.
