From this Monday, November 30, Colombians will have a new version of their identity document: a digital ID.

This new document will not displace the current ID that is still in force and for now, it will not be mandatory. Those who require it will be able to schedule an appointment at the country’s Registrars authorized to issue the digital ID.

“The determining factor of this card is that the citizen will not have to physically carry it, through any smartphone and the Registrar’s application, with the morphology of the face, facial biometrics, they will be able to access it in real time”, explained Alexander Vega, national registrar.
