With the announcement of the new Budget of the Nation, by President Iván Duque, whose amount is $ 313.9 billion pesos, The sectors that will have the greatest investment for the year 2021 in Colombia were known.
This Budget Law was approved on October 19 by the Congress of the Republic for, among other things, improve the country’s economic growth, generate more jobs, reduce poverty and help companies hit by the pandemic caused by Covid-19.
According to the Ministry of Finance, by 2021, the sector of the education will have an investment of $ 47.3 billion pesos, 7.9% more than in 2020.
The health sector will be the second sector with the highest investment by 2021 with a total of 36.05 billion pesos, 16.6% more than last year.
The third sector of the work will have an investment of 27.2 billion pesos; the fourth, technologies and information, to which $ 2.4 billion pesos will be allocated. This is one of the ones that increased the most compared to the previous year, as it increased 51.3% with the Government’s initiative to support projects focused on digitization and the implementation of new technologies.
In addition, President Duque, in his speech in Sonsón (Antioquia), indicated that this budget will also help sectors that include projects for the environment, sports and culture.
“Let’s value the advancement in culture. This is the largest historical budget that the culture of our country has had. With this, we will not only be providing resources for artisans and training schools, but also to materialize the desire for the Shake yourself strategy ”, added the president.
He also emphasized the energy sector, where he announced that the Government will accelerate investment in connectivity so that 70% of the country will have high-speed internet by August 2022.
In addition to the distribution by sectors, the Head of State announced that the 2021 budget will be used to generate large infrastructure projects such as the Bogotá Metro; the Metro Ligero de la 80, in Medellín, the San Francisco-Mocoa variant, the works of the Central Cordillera Crossing, the Barranquilla-Cartagena connection, the Fourth Generation (4G) road projects Mar 1 and Mar 2, as well as Pacific 1, 2 and 3.
“Between now and August 2022 we will be delivering 20 of the 29 Fourth Generation projects on the roads of our country. That is the importance of this budget ”, explained the president.
The construction of new penitentiary and prison facilities will be another of the projects covered by the budget for 2021. He added that funds will be made available to the Ministry of Agriculture to reach the goal of 150,000 producers covered by the Contract Agriculture program next year. , and move towards the goal of 300,000 producers in 2022.
