“In this very difficult year for the country’s air transport services, I have instructed the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Finance to capitalize our state airline Satena with $ 40,000 million to guarantee its operation and functioning,” said the president .

Duque added that Satena is an emblematic airline, the resources will be “to correct market failures, connect the territories, where a substantial part of its team is part of our Colombian Air Force that has 101 years of existence.”

Brigadier General Luis Carlos Córdoba, president of Satena, said that the airline is a strategic asset of the country, which has 92 air routes, of which 82 “are social routes that allow Colombians to communicate with the most important centers in the country.” .

“The capitalization will allow us to continue with our service in remote communities with favorable prices and expand coverage in the medium term,” Córdoba added.

Satena is a commercial airline, owned by the State, which was founded on April 12, 1962. Due to the pandemic, it had a regular cessation of operations from March to August. In September it resumed its commercial services. However, throughout the year they supported passenger and cargo transport operations both nationally and internationally.
